We had two chickens a long time ago. One was a gold sebright, named Pheonix, and the other was a white silkie, named Snowfluff. The first time they met, they didn't peck each other. Instead, they followed each other everywhere. At night Pheonix would spread her wing over Snowfluff on the perch, and Snowfluff would nuzzle Pheonix's beak as if she was saying, "Thanks for being my friend." When the other chickens pecked Snowfluff, Pheonix would chase them across the yard. In the end, Snowfluff was dragged off by a raccoon and left Pheonix alive for a long time. Pheonix sat where Snowfluff used to sit and lay where Snowfluff used to lay. Then our latest killing, made by Daisy the Jack Russell Terrier, Pheonix died. We will never, ever forget the day that they arrived or died.
