Philosophical Question

I have a very old pair of button quail (5 years). Willie Wayne (the hen) is really old and decrepit, and the rooster (Pi) will often really beat her down while mating. Personally, I think that they should be separated and let the hen live what little life she has left un-raped on a daily basis. My wife things I am being too hard on the rooster, as he really gets worked up when separated from Willie. What are your thoughts?

I think you need more button quail. A female as a companion to your elderly girl and some new girls for your roo. I wouldn’t let her be attacked like that, it’s cruel, but the stress of being alone isn’t good for either of them either.
