I am not a vet, so I thought I should ask opinions on a greater majority of people.
This little (straight-run) chick we purchased at Tractor Supply has been picked at until it had a hole in it's wing! The feather shafts (?) are still intact, but you can clearly see through his wing to her body. Yesterday, I took him into the house, poured hydrogen peroxide on it, then allowed it to stop bleeding, and put some Neosporin on the wound. The opening is about the size of a nickel. The little guy's in my room, with a heat lamp and food & water. She lives in an aquarium now.
It's got a cover, but it doesn't go over the entire top because of the lamp, so I have to close the door to keep the two cats and the dog out.
Right now, I have a very tame baby sitting on me as I type.
EDIT:
Spelling.
