I'm a bit worried about getting eggs shipped to me even though it's done all the time. So my question is...Is it really strange to want to find a supplier in my state and drive there to pick them up? Will they allow this and how do you go about locating egg providers in your area? Thanks for any advice.

Yep, done it, and got the same rates as with shipped eggs. I know there's a lot of you out there afraid the eggs won't hatch or will get broken, but trust me, all it takes is knowing your seller, how they pack eggs, how their feedback is, and what time of year it is.

I just got the MOST AMAZING shipped eggs from a BYCer. From Utah all the way to Virginia beach! Completely unbroken, no detached air cells, that i can tell so far. Eggs i got from WV, just a state away, can't say the same. This seller packaged them individually and very thoughtfully.

Good luck!

Well said... and that time of year thing, can't stress that enough. It's heartbreaking to hear about shipments in the freezing winter or the blazing summer heat where the chicks arrived deceased or suffering and eventually died anyway and/or eggs arrived frozen in winter or half-baked in summer--but please, let us do try to remember these factors when ordering.
