I've got a large surplus of quail eggs that have been collected over some time which I now want to pickle.

To check if they are still good is the egg floating test accurate? I recently done the test on my chicken eggs and I ended throwing out almost all of them because they all floated. I somehow doubt that many were bad as at least 1 dozen would have been less than 2 weeks old.

Does the test work the same for quail eggs?

Also please share if anyone has a good and simple recipe for picking quail eggs.

I'd imagine any pickled egg recipe for chicken eggs would be fine for quail eggs and lots of them online.
I use this site for a basis for basic brine ratios though I add extra vinegar and salt.

Favorite of mine besides teriyaki pineapple pickled eggs is hot and spicy.
I add chunked turkey kiełbasa (I don't like turkey kielbasa but it is the best for pickling IMHO) and hot cherry peppers.
