Hi guys
I have noticed some differences in the sexes of my chicks and thought I would share them with you all. These chicks a 4wks old and on the pullets you can see that their tails and wings are much bigger and more developed than the roos. This is easier to tell at 2 or 3 weeks.
The Speckled Sussex and Black Sexlinks, I raised myself; the others were bought and sexed by a hatchery.
Please note that this does not work with all breeds, My Barred Rocks for instance do not have these differences, but they are fairly easy to tell by color.
I should also have these breeds for sale next year if anyone is interested
Buff Orpinton pullet
Buff Orp roo
Silver laced Wyandotte pullet
SL Wyan. roo
Rhode Island White pullet
RIW roo
Speckled Sussex pullet
Susssex roo
Here are some black sexlinks that I bred from a Buff Orp roo and Barred Rock hens. they are two mos and you can see the clear difference in color here as well and when hatched
