Does anybody have pictures of juvenile Pekins? My Chester is now 9-10 weeks old. I know he was developmentally behind when I got him due to nutritional deficiencies. He is feathering now, but he still looks all yellow. I am hoping that he is catching up to where he should be. If I could see pictures of other people's juvenile Pekins it might let me know if he is progressing properly.

Yes, but it doesn't say how old he is in the pic. I have been searching the internet, but haven't found a lot of good pictures with the ages listed.

Currently among my flock I've got two adult Perkins (WALL-E & EVE, they're 13 weeks), at one point I was also worried that their coats wouldn't change to white. But it seems that they did so subtlety that I didn't notice exactly when it happened. They are now have quite fine white coats.

Last week their feather's started to look a little yellow. What I have found is that if I didn't keep the water in their Pen totally clear their coat yellowed slightly. After I changed the water in the "pond" tub they jumped in and started preening themselves. A couple days later they were bright white again.

Now that I think about it, my friend who has Perkins with his chickens with just a small water source for drinking (no swimming), well, their coats are ALWAYS yellow (especially breast and keels).

I have additional 3 perkin ducklings that I have to add to the flock when they get slightly older (currently 3 wks old). Their coats are quite yellow I will keep a better eye on the coats tell you when they change.

Cheers,
JJ

Thanks. I appreciate it. I try to keep Chester's pools clean. The small one in the run is dumped and cleaned every other day and the big one outside the run every few days.
