I agree with Blisschick....I think it is due to the color pigment of deep red in color would consider as "mahogany"
It all depends on what custom "detailing" you want in the mahogany birds...some are solid mahogany and others have black detailing on their feathers.....
Even the Speckled Sussex have some mahogany feathering tipped with black and white colors.
As for the Mahogany Faverolles, Sandhill Preservation has them. Not all of the male chicks will come out looking like that, some will be lighter than others.
