Pictures of my calls, is the pied a silkie?

Quote:
That is what I thought. I have a silkie snowy and gray. He is similar, but not quite the same.

Silkies seem to have hatching problems, and I think it's common to breed in other bantams to try to correct this. I'm having a hard time finding a lot of information about breeding silkies. I spoke to Dave Holderread, and he told me that I would want to make sure not to dismiss any smooth hatchlings. He said I would want to breed them back in... I think it has to do with fertility.

So it's possible that you do have a silky (though I still think the chest if funny... and not just because of feathering... does it look broader to you too?) If nothing else it looks like it would have had silky at the granparent point in the line or further back?

I'm very curious now. Please let us know what Mrs. Turbo says.

And yes, that is an incredible looking duck. Stunning.

Mrs. Turbo :

didn't know there was such a thing......sometimes our young ducks look "silkie" until their adult feathers come in.

I am taking it as a no

The ducks do not have silkie in them.....some of our young ducks look "rough" like that until they molt and grow their adult feathers.....
does he get in the water much? A couple of our calls think they will melt if they touch water.
