I decided to update our photos of them today and they are below.

The breeds we have living outside and their numbers are:
1 Cuckoo Maran
2 Buff Orpington
1 Delaware
3 Ameraucana mutts (EEs)
2 Barred Plymouth Rocks
2 Rhode Island Reds

The shed and current run:

Our Shih-Tzu girl (who's been herding them around the yard and back into the shed!!!) sniffing the Barred Rocks bottom:

Formerly a "mystery" chick that took an extra 3-4 weeks to even BEGIN to get feathers that we now know is an Ameraucana mutt and likely a cockerel judging by the comb...:

Delaware....who is a real drama queen. She screams bloody murder if she is separated from the flock outside, gets lost, spooked, or stuck on the other side of the fence begging for us to pick her up...which usually she seldom lets us do:

Various (the first one is another Ameraucana mutt with pine tar on it, was also pecked before....healing up though):

The peepers prevent them from seeing straight in front of their heads so it prevents/extremely discourages them from pecking other birds since their eye sight is limited.

They use those peepers on the pheasants at Cornell Game Farm. When my daughter was 4 yrs old she took one look at them and said, "Look, chickens with sunglasses!". The name stuck, 15 yrs later and we still call pheasants, chickens with sunglasses.

The peepers seem to work. The dominant pullets definitely calm down a lot more now that their eye sight is limited. However, we have noticed that the peepers tend to fall off the nose on the younger birds probably because their beaks aren't wide enough yet.
