Pigeon sexing and breed telling

Got these new pigeons (never owned any actually...lol) Can anyone tell me what breed they are and what color...and the former owner said the one in the back(the splash looking one) is a female...and the brown is a male. He also said their homing pigeons...is he right?

I don't know much about pigeons (never kept any), but to me those pigeons look like Old German Owl Pigeons. That's about all I know.

Thanks, someone just told me they were old Germans as well.
