Is it just my precious 4 or are all ducks hugemongous pigs? And I don't mean making a mess.

I have a BIG dog bowl that I put my chick feed in. The chickens (46) used to almost empty it once a day. Now add (4) 1 month old ducks.

They are eating an entire bowl by themselves apparently. I refill the bowl around 2 and it is nearly empty again by night.

OINK OINK!!

The chickens and the ducks all free range also - I'd hate to see how much food they would go through if they were caged.

Ducks really are just pigs with feathers

Im SOOO glad I started free ranging. i was having to go twice a month fro feed before. Thats $70 a month. Now its back down to $35

i keep tellin' 'em -- get out there and free range because its FREE!

and yes our ducklings have been eating us out of house and home!

uh huh I have 11 of those pig ducks....tell me about it. They are mowing through 25 lbs of food per week EASY. Of course they waste some of it too....but they are pigs. eat their food, eat a tomato, eat a bag of frozen peas a few spinach leaves and then pass out!

HA! This made me laugh, because I was wondering the same thing...I have 6 almost 2 week old ducks, and they are PIGS!! I've never had ducks before and I can't believe how much they eat and drink. They are free fed duck feed, but someone said to give them unlimited access to greens.............geesh, it must have been someone with unlimited funds!

......they have an 8" dog crock that I fill with water and peas, kale and lettuce about 5-6 times a day. It's gone in a minute, then they crash and wake up screaming for more! I was planning on growing some greens for them, but now I think I will have to plow the whole property and plant acres of the stuff for them!
They are darn cute tho!!!
