Hey everyone, I'm a little stuck here; I ordered pilgrims-straight run was all that was available- and ended up with 2 ganders. I just can't have a goose that doesn't lay eggs...
I found a taker on one, but in a few more months (before sexual maturity) I need to get the other a new home. They are both friendly-though talkative when they see food-and have been raised very carefully-concerning their diets and coop hygene. My cousin offered to take my other gander, but she wants to eat it. I'm not against eating geese, but he is a pilgrim and very friendly, and I didn't raise him for someone else to eat.

So, I don't know where to place a male goose, most people are afraid of geese around here and I can't abondon him at a park-he has had no real life experience... can you help?

That is too bad that the person who is taking one won't take both, geese do better with at least one other to consider a flock member. They are social just like chickens and ducks. I have a pair of Pilgrim geese and they are very sweet. Even now that the gander is a year old and has a nest to defend there have been no problems. They do occasionally chase my chickens, but no harm done. They are excellent weed eaters, too.

I would recommend that you post on the auction section of this site if you haven't already (way more people will see it). It is ok to list birds as free or local only I think. If you had to talk the one gander taker in the slightest, I would be tempted to offer the two ganders together, but that's just me.

By the way two ganders raised together would probably be good buddies.

Good luck.

I guess there's always Craigslist?

I found several geese listed under the Farm & Garden section. right now there are a few Embden and a couple of Buffs within 40 miles of Ann Arbor near where I Live
