Cant seem to find an answer to this; Can pine needles be used as bedding in a coop/pen? See folks mainly use shavings and straw. Pros? Cons? Only thing I see which may be an issue is sap. Moving to property full of Pines, and figured I might be on to something free and effective! Don

I have used it before for coop bedding and nest bedding. It caused no issues other than it wasn't as absorbent as other things but,
it was easy to clean out the coop as the straw acted much like little brooms while sweeping and scraping up poo.

I am using pine straw in the nest boxes, because that is what we have. They do not seem to mind, and it all goes into the garden anyway. Besides, the rusty red goes well with their feathers.
