pine needles for laying boxes?

I have a bunch and the seem softer than hay. Will they work for box bedding? Thanks Kevin

Pine needles will work fine.
That is what I use for my pigeons nest bowls.
Pigeons are fussy and arrange them neatly and symmetrically.

I personally use a folded feed bag for chickens. They could care less.
My nest boxes dimensions are 12 inches³.
When the bag becomes soiled pop it out.
Fold another and pop it in.
Easy Peasy!! .
