If I use pine shavings.....Do I need pine flakes or fine shavings????? Does it matter???

It really doesn't matter, pine shavings are the best thing!~ They can be fine or flakes, so long as they work for your coop and your chickens!

To me it doesn't really matter as long as it's not sawdust fine type stuff. If it's too fine it's really dusty but most shavings that you buy for animal bedding are not going to be that fine. I've used the smaller stuff for years and never had a dust problem.

yes i think that is what i want? Is there another way? Sorry for the dumb questions i'm new to the chicken game.

A light dusting, like a cover of snow. Then cover the droppings the same way as they appear.

They will appear a lot. ;)

Welcome to chickens! And don't worry: Everyone here started out knowing nothing. So there are no dumb Qs.
