Pine Straw?

So, we're exhausted from building the coop and run. It is secure. We are trying to decide what to do about the floor of the run ...it is currently dirt and left over pine straw. not optimal i know We may end up putting small crushed river rock sometime in the near future, Here's my question.... is it ok to put down a fresh layer of pine straw just to prevent the muddy chicken problem ? Is the pine straw dangerous in any way? --Don't want to overlook anything. thanks for your help...Stephanie

Good clean dirt is fine for the run as long as it's covered. Let the dirt baths commence! And congrats on getting it all done

Pine straw is great in my opinion. I've used many wheelbarrow loads of it over the years for just that purpose.

I use the pine shavings in our run...like it alot. I don't know if this is the same as pine straw....?
