Hey there,
So it is day 20 and out of six eggs one has a pip hole. The hole is not at the wide end of the egg though, is at the pointed end. I am not going to touch it at all and just let nature do it's thing but am wondering if it is normal for a pip hole to be at the pointed end of the egg???,
thank you!

Thanks! It seems like a healthy chick, or at least is sounds like a healthy chick.

Third time hatching chicks. First was 2 eggs, second was 4 eggs and this time it is six eggs. Funny how there is always at least one chick that is very loud and wants to hatch in the middle of the night

I actually had a suprise hatch the clutch before last. I was asleep, Just locked down about 4 hours before. He-Chick desides to pip and zip in one blow. 3 am in the morning I hear this thud, peep peep peep, thud thud, ... I sprang out of bed, to find half my eggs pipped, one other zipping, and this chick running all over the bator. I try to set all my eggs so that day 19 and 20 are on a weekend... Well this hatch staggered from day 18 to day 21.. I was wore slap out.

Haha! That sounds like the last four eggs. They all hatched over a period of three days. All I have read about chickens says that chicks are tired after hatching. Well I have found that the chicks don't seem tired at all but I end up absolutely exhausted!

you will get several different answers on humidity on lockdown... I keep mine under 70% (between 65 and 69) of course remember that humidity is realitive to where you live. I'm in Louisiana where the humidity might stay at 70-80 % in the hotest part of the summer. So I don't have to do much with mine, except add a little water. My big home brew up right freezer incubator only requires a little water raise humidity over 70%. This is the point where I start playing with the vents to regulate.

Good Luck!

I have had fine luck with somewhere around 60% relative humidity. I hear it should be higher but my incubator just doesn't seem to get higher humidity than that unless I were to dump a gallon of water in there. I do put two wet sponges in along with filling the "valleys" made to hold water in the incubator.
