pipping 1/2 way down the egg

I intervened on a chick, pipped at the wrong end, on my last hatch. I could see its beak and knew it to be alive, but after 24 hours I took it out and sat it big end down in the bator....................... and after some more time with no progress............. went ahead and removed what was now the top. It was shrink wrapped with only part of the head tore through, so removed the visible membrane too and sat it back in. After a liitle wait, it stood up and finally flopped out of the shell....................... alive and healthy.

Sorry every one who have asked about my chick...we we're at a chicken show all day today.

At 5am the chick was alive and breathing out the hole in it's shell that it had made but was a very low pip. So I went to sleep to give it some time to work. When I woke back up at 7am, it had died.

I can't help but think I should have done more but if it were in nature, it would have had to do it on it's own. Sad either way.

I might do things differently next time, maybe. Just have to learn as I go and hope for the best.

Blessing on all the hatches going on!
