I have an egg that pipped yesterday and zipped last night. I can see the chick, but I have never seen the egg move or heard the chick. When the eggs were turned yesterday morning I think this egg may have been turned over on the pipped area. It was this morning when I checked it that I noticed that the chick had made progress through the night. I am concerned that the membrane is around the chicks beak and it can't breath. What do I do? I have read that you don't help them.

I did read that the membrane could become dry after a while...I did mist the egg with warm water. I read that help to keep the chick from shrink wraping. I hope I am doing the right thing.

Have a look at this thread:

If intervention is necessary as a last resort

It'll tell you how to help, if needed and what to look out for. Good luck!

That's when the chick "zips" the shell open, it breaks it open slowly, going round the middle of the egg. Don't worry, when I joined I didn't have a clue what the people here were talking about either!
