Pipping???

what is candaling and pipping?? and how can you tell if an egg is fertile before cracking it???

Candling is holding a bright light up to the egg to see development inside. Pipping is the first hole the chick pokes in the egg prior to hatching.

I do not know how to tel fertility without breaking it.
