Here I am again! I have an egg in my incubator that pipped pretty high on the blunt end. Will he be able to zip out on his own? Or will I need to help him along? Thanks for the help.

I am new at this, but I have done my research. I know which end they are supposed to pip at. THE PROBLEM IS: the pip is almost at the top of the blunt end. I think when he zips he will have a hole about the size of a dime. Smaller than his head. I WAS WONDERING if this was a sign of an improperly positioned chick that would require help sooner rather than later. Serious reply's only.
Thank You

I take it you mean the blunt in is the small, pointy end, right. If so, I have had many chicks make it out with the wrong end pipped. You really can't do anything but wait and see. Good luck and please keep us posted. It can take up to 24 hours from pip to zip. I've hatched hundred of chicks and I've never lost one to a wrong end pip, perhaps lucky but that has been my experience. They are nerve wracking though!
