looking for advice of placing nest boxes for two banty hens. one seems to want to sit for half a day on her egg currently lays on floor in pile of hay. we have no boxes in coop now. chickens free range all day in at night. found out some great ideas to make boxes, now just need to know what may be the best placement of them. coop is in corner of barn, wire cage 3wx4wx8h with roost w/ heat lamp (til winter is really over) roost is about 2 ft from floor. on one end of coop.

If you plan to have the broody hatch her peeps, it's best to have them on the ground level so they can go to feed and water when it's time for them to eat and drink.

Moving them to their own area is a smart move!

Large enough cardboard boxes work really well.

Cut the box to fit your need.
