Placement of Thermometer

Is it ok to place the thermometer on top of the eggs?

Shold be at egg level. on top of the egg will read slightly higher than at egg level.

That's where I put my thermometer; right on top of the eggs. Its very small and thin. That's where most sources say it is supposed to be.
