Placing Chickens In Coop In November Questions

As long as they are not in a direct draft and you have decent ventilation, chickens don't even notice 20*F weather. They are wearing a down coat after all. The problems come in when they are in a direct draft (wind chill is a real thing) or the ventilation is not good so humidity and ammonia from their droppings build up. You get good ventilation without having them in a direct draft by having your ventilation openings higher than the roosting chickens.

thank you all for sharing there is alot of ventaliation the door that came with the shed is not on there we took it off and built obe our selves which is 5 feet high and wide we made a square out of wood and covered it with chicken wire that door is closed at night and opened in the day time there are vent holes also all around the top of the coop. I went on and ordered 5 new babies which should ship aug 9th
