Planning for Chickens, in Mission BC, Canada.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I remember reading a book by Gail Damero when I first got started and it really helped me get a grip on the idea of keeping chickens. Books can definitely get you off to a good start. However books are very brief and not very broad scoped. You will find BYC so in depth, the information overwhelming at times, as there are thousands of different environments, situations, bird species and ways of doing things and not everything works for all. So once you have read your book of choice, hang around here a while, you will be an old pro in no time! 😊

Welcome aboard!

I agree books are a great help, but sometimes knowledge from another person is best!

Welcome to BYC! and the start of your chicken adventure!
My all time favorite chicken book, one that I started out with and read over and over as a reference us called "Chickens In Your Backyard" by Rick and Gail Luttman. All the beginner stuff is in there written with alot of humor and information about the most common questions and problems you will likely encounter.
Good Luck!
Thank you, I will check it out!
