plants - ? ? ?

My coop has a few open walls (here in AZ our summers are just murderous) that are screened off with hardware fabric.
The coop is in shade all day, and I'm wondering what kinds of plants I can plant (in the shade) that will grow and make it look a little nicer.

Any ideas? obviously they can't be posionous, and I don't mind if the hens eat 'em a little but the fuzzbutts have to let them grow too.
