Plastic Shed To Chicken Coop?

When I get the shed cleaned out and moved, I'll either post pics here or make a new topic, so you guys can get a good idea of the size. We should be doing that any day now, but we've all had colds (and I've had other medical issues) that we're trying to recover from first.

We're going to buy some chicken wire and hopefully we'll have enough money to buy a lot so we can coat either the inside or outside of the fence in it, I heard that chickens should not be kept in a run with holes wider than an inch. We could probably raise the height with more chicken wire and then use more chicken wire for a roof. Honestly I'm not quite sure what we're going to do, but the roof, whatever it's going to be, definitely needs to be higher so we can stand up when we go in.

We're going to move the shed against the fence in such a way that one door of the shed is connected to the fence, that way we can go in the shed without going in the fence. It probably doesn't make much sense -my Mom had to draw a diagram, it was her idea- but it'll turn out pretty nice if we can set it up. We'll have to ruin the fence though, by cutting a hole in it and attaching it (somehow) to the shed where the chicken door is going to be.

The whole thing will be pretty rigged, and probably a few years down the road I'll have to buy or build an actual coop, but it's a start in my opinion.
Noting the short height of the fencing and the higher doors......could you cut one of the doors into 2 pieces so that the bottom of one would match up with the gate of the fencinig. ..Those doors that are in 2 pieces are called cottage door. The rest of the building looks good/sturdy. If it has a good flooring, I would raise the shed up to a comfortable height to be able to clean better, I can think of so many things to do with it but since I can't eyeball it personally, its difficult to give you any good feedback.

No worries, as soon as I get it cleaned out I'll take pictures... actually, I could take video instead. The floor is a metal piece that I think came with it, I won't know until we try to move it. We have some cinder blocks, I was thinking of raising it up on that, if the bottom is indeed metal. I was going to keep the baby chicks in a tub in the shed, near the sliding glass doors, if possible. If that's too dangerous we'll have to keep them in the house. We don't have a garage or anything. I also see what you mean, the doors are higher than the fence. If we can't use chickenwire to make the fence higher we'll have to do something about the doors. It's going to be a lot of rigging things up. xP

I bought a plastic chicken coop a year ago after terrible problems with mites. When there's no wood there's no place for the mites to go. I bought a treadle food dispenser so only the hens could eat (no wild birds or vermin), fitted an automatic door opener - and life's a dream!
