put “the kids” in their coop to check it out and be wild. Just about 2 weeks old. They were zooming all around the brooder box, I thought it was a nice day to give them some time in the coop. I’m in Florida, it’s a nice warm day. I’m monitoring them and will bring them back inside soon.

We have two outside cats. One is a hunter (not pictured) the other is most interested in when he can come inside the house for a nap (orange cat pictured) but the chicken show was fun for a moment to him

I want to move them out there in a week (they’d only be 3 weeks old though). We’d put the light out there if they needed it (don’t think they will).
They did REALLY well for the first time. I thought they’d holler and complain.
I know most folks keep them in a brooder for 2 months or so, but I’d like to try them out in the coop earlier.

View attachment 1278580 So cute! They look happy. :) I’ve been taking my chicks outside on the nice days, looking forward to them trying out their coop once it’s finished.
I’d take one out in the yard and hover over it (we have hawks) and they’d LOUDLY complain the whole time. Surprisingly the liked the coop. Maybe cause they were all together?

Lol maybe they felt safer in the coop since you do have hawks. When I had mine out, a hawk flew pretty low over us and one in particular really freaked out! It was good to know that at least one was actually paying attention.
