I have 6 young hens, all 6 to 7 months old. I see them facing off with one another and jumping. The pecking order seems set already. They all do it but The main 2 that do it are 2 EE. They are always wanting to face off with everybody else and puff their feathers out and jump. But nothing serious ever seems to really come of it. They seem to be aggravating the others with it more than anything. Is this a trait of EE's maybe or just playing around?

Pretty sure, yes. Bought them all from a respectable farm. Plus like I said .....non are laying yet and yesterday made a month that I've had them. The pecking order seems set. It seems like it's just playing around to me but these are my first so I wasn't sure if it was an issue.

Can you post pics of the 2 'fighters'?

I hope that's good enough for what you wanted to see. The two EE's in there seem to be the ones doing it the most. The RIR is the pen BOSS.

Everyone looks female from what I can see.

Young animals just like to play. They mock fight, posture at each other, things like that. It's pretty normal.

Agrees^^^^^
My pullets were rowdy this year, lots of feet up sparring.......I called them the punk gang.
They pretty much stopped the 'fighting' when they started laying,
but still like to run/fly around...maybe because most have stopped laying, the bum slackers!
