I have been lurking and learning for a while, but since I've had my babies for a week now, I thought I should poke my head in and say "Hi!"
I've wanted chickens for about 15 years now, and kept waiting for the day we move to the country. Looks like it will be several more years, so I finally wore down my husband's better judgement and we've got town chicks.
He's building me the Catawba Chicken ark (as I type!), and I drove to Illinois last Sunday and got a dozen Bantam Salmon Faverolles. We're only keeping three (whichever seem to be the 3 hens with the best personalities) and selling the rest to a friend who lives in the country and can have the roosters.
Of course, now that I'm ready to post pictures, it seems that my computer has eaten the entire Finepix Viewer. I'll post whenever we find it!
I live about an hour west of St. Louis, have two daughters (8 and 16), 3 cats, 2 pet rats, 1 dog, and am currently fostering a mama cat and 4 kittens for our local animal welfare group.
