Hello fine feathered friends!
I have a hen whose vent is protruding, bloody, mucous-y (sp), raw, foul-smelling, and very exposed. She is having trouble expelling her eggs, and seems to be in terrible pain when doing so (I helped her in the process today).
When she is done releasing her egg, her energy and sprightliness returns, and she goes about romping and foraging in the grass.
Any ideas what this is, and how I can help her? She's a mess back there.
Thank you so much!
