Age of birds?
Agree they look female their combs are quite small. Saddle feathers at the base of the tail in males will be pointy these will appear approximately between 12 to 16 weeks of age.

This works as long as the birds are old enough -- which depends on breed and maturity rate but which is *usually* possible somewhere between 16 and 20 weeks.

Cockerel comb and wattles develop much sooner than a pullet. The comb and wattles of a pullet develop around the time they're old enough to lay eggs while a cockerels are getting bigger around six weeks of age or sooner depending on breed. Also, hackle and saddle/tail feathers would be coming in if your birds were cockerels.
