they are, ive had dozens of snakes within the last four years never more than two at a time though. they are also very easy to take care of that is depending on what kind of snake it is. I currently Have my male speedway king on my lap. although i do have to keep an eye on him, i caught him on Thursday. I dont think ive ever heard of a king snake sitting calmly on your lap before but both of mine do, the smaller one curls up, but it is common for ball pythons to curl up into a ball and just sit there.
Three of my king snakes have escaped in the past all at different times, one was a baby, one was named houdini and one my grandfather forgot to latch the tank after feeding her.
Hoidini was a king snake that I had found at my house, all my pets live at my grandparents house, i had him in a container when my grandma came and picked me up to got to church, it was in the afternoon, i left the snake in the car and went in, my grandma told me to go check on it, it was fine, later she told me to check on it again, it had popped the lid off and disappeared, later i found it under the drivers seat, thats how he got his name, a few month later he had disappeared from the latched tank. To this day we have not figured out how he got out and we have not seen any signs of any of them
