I purchased 4 chicks from a local store on April 22, 2013. They were two days old, and are now 13 weeks old. They were all supposed to be hens. A few days ago I witnessed my BPR crow! We are not allowed to have roosters where I live and now I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone please tell me for sure which sex it is?

I know this last pic is not great, but I didn't know at the time that a top of the head shot is what I needed.
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

How long has he had that red comb and large red wattles? I'm guessing he sprouted them a month or more back. The pullets don't show signs of comb and wattles until closer to laying, around 16 weeks. If he's shown red since week 6 or 8? Yup, yup. You've got a cockerel. At 13 weeks, I'm guessing he didn't just sprout them this week.

9 week olds below. It's kinda of obvious. All the pullets are only showing buff/yellow combs.

I'm with Fred's Hens, a comb and wattles like that at this young age? Cockerel for sure. My Barred Rocks' combs don't get that red until just before point of lay, around 17 weeks.

PS Fred's Hens, those are some NICE Rocks. Wonderful barring.

That is a rooster the color tells me pullets are often darker as roos the white tends to stand out a little more. Plus the obvious comb wattles crow and the thick yellow legs

ETA Welcome to BYC!

advertise him on craigs list or somthing similer sale him for about $10 - $15 and you should be able to sale fairly quick.

it's crowing, doesn't matter what it is. that is why you can't have a roo, the noise, sorry

i will admit that the feather color looks more like pullet, but it looks roo otherwise, but kind of young to be crowing.
