My fiance went out and bought me this chick when one of my silkies died. I love this chick but cannot keep a boy. I started to believe my beloved "Penny" may indeed be a "Copper" a few days ago when the comb got bigger. I believe she is a D'uccle. Is "she" a "he"? It seems like you guys can tell with D'uccles faster than some other breeds. Any help is appreciated.

Day she came home:

Boy, sorry

Yeah, boy.

A fairly easy way to tell sometimes is that as they begin to feather out like yours is, in my experience boys tend to feather more slowly than girls about the shoulder area. He is very handsome, though...

I love him so much that I might just keep him in the garage. My neighbors to the left are illegally running a daycare from their house. I've never said a word about it, maybe they would keep quiet about a tiny little rooster...

Blackmail seems like such a dirty word. I prefer to think of it as a...neighborly understanding. I mean, if I don't complain about your customers walking into my house or honking their horns in my driveway because they think they are at your house, then maybe you don't hear my rooster crowing. Rooster? What rooster?

Also thank you everyone for informing me of my little "Copper problem."

90% sure thats a boy. lol, i know the felling of roosterness when their comb gets big. my OEGB was thought to be a pullet, when he was about 5 weeks old, i went on a vaction for like 4 days, came back, and his comb was twice as big

Denial is not just a river in Egypt it will work for a while. Most likely they will say nothing if you say nothing as nobody wants the chicken/daycare cops knocking on their door.
