I have a large flock and I've notice a few of my hens are walking slightly funny and found that that is because they are a bit bloated. I don't know what could have caused this bloating. (I mean bloating as in their abdomen seems bloated-like being bigger and harder). Their abdomens also seem much more sensitive to pressure than normal. Could my these hens be egg bound? How would I know if they are? How would I fix it? Thanks.

I don't think more than one hen would get eggbound at a time- that would be quite a coincidence. It sounds like they ate something bad or are developing a disease. With such a large investment at stake I believe I would get a vet in to take a look.

what all are they eating?

describe the droppings..color and consistency
are the vents clear?
any drainage?

are the crops big also?

how old are they?

They are eating layer feed with grain and other things in the mix.

To my knowledge their droppings look okay.

The vents looked clear.

I didn't see any drainage.

I don't believe so.

They are a few years old. 2 or 3. I have one that was rescued and has no age set but at least 2 or 3.
