i just went out to close up my chickens for the night. one of my 16 week old pullets was lying all alone in the run. all the other chickens were in for the night. she was lying on her sidein the middle of the run with her head awkardly to one side under her wing as if she was cleaning herself. i tried to move her but she just chirped like she was in a lot of pain. she can move her wings, otherwise we would have thought her neck was broken. there was no obvious wounds. help! i dont know what to do with her.

I had 3 chickens. They are about 2-3 months old. I don't know exactly because I rescued them when someone left them off in a box. They have the feathers on their wings & body, but they haven't developed combs, etc. They are just forming on a couple.

One of them would not come out of the cage when I let them out. It just sat there. I picked it up & cradled it in my hands. It's neck flopped around and it couldn't seem to hold it up. It got up some energy & flew out of my hands, but just fell & lay there with liquid coming from its mouth. It died.

I have 2 other chicks still & need to know why the one died so I can correct what is wrong. PLEASE help! I'm new to this. I know those of you that have raised chickens & entire flocks are probably used to this, but I've been raising these chicks as pets. I've grown attached to them & having one of them die basically in my hands is awful.

If you are feeding your chicken growth hormones, she may have kinky neck, which when the neck is bent over. If your chicken has kinky neck, you will have to put her down, for it is very painful for the chicken.

i am new to this too and i know it is terrible to have a chick die. i had one die a few months ago. i consider them pets too.

i have not been feeding them growth hormones though so i dont think its a krinky neck. She keeps having spasms. we put her in a box in the corner of the coop so she will not be picked on and will not spread the disease. all she does is lie there, lying on her head. her neck is twisted backwards and looking up. it looks so painful. i don't want to put her down but i will if a have to. do you think she will ever recover?
