Hatching
Hi all! This is my first hatch (6 eggs from a friend's happy farm where the chicks will return to live) and I know nothing really - the incubator has no humidity measuring device and I am worried about these eggs as I didn't realize that was necessary! Could not see anything candling the big eggs but the silkies had a good sized air sac at the round end before lockdown.
PIP 1 - Large Brown one pipped between 8 and 14 (overnight) hours ago and the membrane is open and I can see the chick move. No more real progress although the chick responds (movement and peeps) to chirps and taps on the outside of the incubator. The little flap of membrane looks like dry white paper.
PIP 2- tiny white silky egg. Cracked a convex circle 4 hours ago but has not pushed the shell forth more, so I cannot see the membrane or chick. No movement.
The incubator is locked down @ 37.4C (99.32F). 3 hours ago the owner thought the membrane looked dry (fr a photo) and had me add about 5ml H20 into the incubator on the paper towel (not opened - add by during via port on top). There is condensation on the sides now.
Do things sound like it's going okay? Thanks in advance for any direction you all can share
