I really really need some help. Purchased two Sebastopol goslings from an online auction from a seller I know. They were fine at time of auction. When I went to pick them up seller said one had developed a head tilt, thought it was a vitamin deficiency, started her on Poly-vi-sol the night before. I took her home, have been using vitamins in the water and offering egg and other selenium rich foods, as well as vit e. She seemed a little better yesterday, but was worse this morning.

Now I'm not able to get her to eat anything, she sends super skinny and I'm really really worried. She drinks and nibbles food but won't eat it. I've tried a gruel of food and water but the second she gets any in her bill she shakes her head violently. I don't know what to do any more and I'm freaking out a bit.

Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Here she is tonight:

There's not many vets around here that can treat birds. My avian vet is an hour away and they couldn't see this one until tomorrow. She/he has an appt at 10 tomorrow morning. I'm worried about keeping it alive until then.

That is the best thing in this case, as Kathy suggested. I would have treated for Vitamin deficiency first as you did. If you can keep the lil guy hydrated then he should be able to last until his Dr. appointment. Best Wishes.

Would be be best to get her to a vet.

I'm so sorry. Is it pooping?

I'm not sure. It was in with it's sibling until this morning, when I separated them, to avoid stress on her. It was ok enough to be with him until this morning. So I should be able to monitor poops now.

ChickenChaser9:

She/he was drinking last night. This morning I tried dipping it's bill and it wouldn't even drink. I gave as much vit e as she'd get down (not much) and she's standing again occasionally. I also have electrolytes in the water to keep it hydrated if it's drinking any of it.

I would try B vitamins as with ducklings. I can see that getting them safely into her is a huge challenge.

Might you put some B complex in water and dribble that on the end of her bill, see if she'll swallow it?

Thank you. I got it to swallow a few drops of Poly-vi-sol tonight. I hated to do it, but I set her down in the kiddie pool too, as it stimulates her to drink. She took a few sips of water this evening. I'm not sure how much, or if it's enough, but I have very little else but hope right now.
