My husband just brought in one of our hens. She cant stand at all...she just flops on her side...it seems that one whole side is paralyzed or something. She cant move her one wing and one leg on the same side of her body.
She still has an appetite though..I just fed her a scrambled egg. Shes still alert. I''m trying to upload a video so you can see what i mean. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks for any help.

My first thought is Mareks as the paralysis of wing and feet is typical and I have seen them with Mareks where thier attitude and appetite is fine but some parts of the body won't move. Sorry to hear your hen isn't doing well

Both Mereks and MG have Paralysis as a symptom. I have seen chickens with both rather recently. Can you give more symptoms..
Any clear liquid around nose? Sneezing coughing if you answered no to all of these questions i would say Yes to mereks if you answers Yes to some of these i would answer MG.

Hi! No, no runny nose or coughing/sneezing anything at all.
also..i read that mereks victims legs are usually split..like one in front and one in back? is this true? because shes laying with both legs behind her..
THanks for the help!

My grandfather got a whole flock of porcelain D'uclles infected with marek's. He lost all but one and culled the it because of weakness. what you are describing sounds like it . Although i do not know how to successfully treat it.

Goodluck and make sure to seperate it until someone can give you an straight yes or no answer!

One of my little bantams got mareks while setting on a clutch of 3 eggs. We kept her food and water really close and would pick her up and work her legs twice a day and then clean her cage. I put poly-visol in her water and fed her extra egg yolk. She came out of it and raised two very great chicks. I figured that scince we had her for 3 months along with the rest of the flock there was no reason to cull or isolate to much as where ever she contracted it the rest of the flock had been exposed also. She is still doing fine.

Anyone else have any idea what it could be?? I just uploaded the video..

I'm not an expert in this area, as Marek's isn't usually as much of a problem in the SouthEast US where I am, but I do recall seeing a post about the fact that their legs are sometimes "split", but not always. I would guess Marek's at this point, based on symptoms and posts I have read on here. Sorry.

What to do from here? I don't know... Hopefully more people who know about Marek's will come along soon. Good luck!
