please help!!! I have a mean rooster

I have a rooster that likes to attack me and only me. I have never harmed or done anything to him. I just don't understand why he doesn't like me and I'm the only one he does this too. Can someone tell me why he does this to me and can I fix this????

HI, i had a young rooster that for no reason would jump and flog me whenever i went in the coop or even if we were out in the yard. i tried everything suggested to make him stop, but couldn't break him of it. the day that he jumped so high and his claws were right at my eyes was the day that i said enough is enough. we now have an older rooster that has never tried to hurt me or the hens -. you may want to rehome him before he gets meaner or actually hurts you or someone else.

We had a BO rooster that we name "King Henry" who we had planned to be the patriarch of our flock.

Unfortunately he took to attacking me. One day I went into the chicken coop with the baby riding high on my back in a carrier. No rooster was there. I started collecting the eggs, and suddenly there was an explosion of feathers. King Henry had spurred me in the thigh, not too far from my baby's leg.

King Henry became "King Henry stew" that weekend. We now have two very well-behaved roosters, one brahma and one Plymouth Rock.

Roosters *have* blinded children before, and could probably do so to an adult stooping to pick up something. You might want to seriously consider either putting him to good use as chicken stock, or finding someone who wants to take on an aggressive rooster.

I am a breeder of what most people would consider a very agressive breed of chicken....The American Gamefowl. This is true for some indifidual Roosters or Hens but not the breed overall. The reason a chicken, any chicken, attacks is because it feels threatened but not too threatend to run. If I have a rooster who like to attack people then I keep him away from people. This is a habit that I have never cured in any Rooster. Once a rooster veiws you as a threat, you will always be. I have found that making alot of noise to try to scare them off (as some would suggest) only feeds the idea that you are the enemy. Unfourtunatly you have to either put him away from people (as a breeding rooster) , endure the constant attacks or find somewhere for him to go (either the pot or a new home).

I know that it was very hard for me to re-home chickens I had raised or had for a long time but sometimes it is the best and only choice that has your and the Roosters best interest at heart.

We have a small peice of bamboo that is split many times at the end that is used to "deter" said behavior. Might want to give it a shot, or give it to someone who want to deal with it.

I have used 2 methods the most effective is to send to freezer camp, they never attack any one again. I have also had moderate success with carrying them around while doing chores in the yard. I really wanted to get some chicks from my Lakenvelder, and he has stayed out of my way after the 4th time I grabbed him up after he went after me. He still tries to go after my 22yr old grand son, if he goes after the young kids, he will have to go!!! The best way to make sure your roos are gentle is to handle them a lot when they are chicks..... good luck with yours,but remember roosters are easy to come by many people give them away for free. I have given away 3or4 myself,they were nice but I had to many.
