Please help identify breed...

Hi, I hope these pictures show enough to help someone identify what breed this chicken may be. Just bought her today at auction.

Single comb, very thick dark legs, not sure what the thing that hangs down at her lower neck is but it's quite low down and feathered.

She's a Black Star (sex-link)

Her neck is just ruffled feathers.... or she's molting.

My Black Star lays an egg almost every day... she hasn't missed a day in over two weeks now.

Thanks! I've never heard of Black Stars. I'm in Australia, maybe we call it something else here, I'll look into it.

NHR roo over BR female.... also -- Black Star

Black Star is just one name for a black Sexlink hybrid layer, a cross between a RIR rooster and a Barred Rock hen usually.

My black stars never had pretty feathering down their back like that. She's really pretty!

Thanks everyone, I agree she looks like all the pics I found on Black Star sex links.

I still found absolutely nothing on any Australian website, so maybe they aren't that common here. Lucky me!

Black stars are also called Black Rocks I believe? I have 5 which are identical to this (i'm in the UK) I also have two Black Rhodes which are not far off, more Rhode island in them and pale legs.
