Please help identify this rescue roo

My neighbor found this fella on her porch and asked me to take him in. I have no idea which breed he is. I'm guessing he is pretty old though?

I don't think he's necessarily old, I think he's just molting. He looks to be a mixed breed guy to me.

He looks like a mix. As for the age, he appears to be under a year (probably around 8 months or so). This is because his spurs haven't grown very much, and he has a gangly appearance. An older rooster would be more filled out, and have longer spurs.

Mixed breed rooster. Not sure on age; its difficult to tell with chickens once they get past about 6 months.

Ah, thanks for the clarification on age. I assumed he was old because his feathers looked faded and he is so gangly. But that may be due to him being lost and being out in the elements.

Definitely young....I'm going out on a limb and saying he is a Silver Spangled Hamburg because of the comb.

Ooh, interesting! Thank you for further insight on what he could be. I had thought the white lobes were a sign of old age, but now I know otherwise!

What about the light feathers? I thought they were white feathers that "aged" or got dirty, but could it be that they are blondish?
