The fertility of my eggs has always been good until recently. only three hens and one rooster. All of them are young.

The rooster got coccidiosis recently, but fixed fairly quickly after corid, but the eggs stopped being fertile. He mates with the hens everyday.

I cracked a couple of eggs, here is one of the pictures. It seems that sperms did not reach the germ. There are two white dots on the eggs, one is bigger, and the other is smaller. The bigger one must be the sperm…

Who has had experience with this and can explain what has happened? TIA!!!

Different things could have happened. I'll expand on them some.

After injury or disease fertility can drop. This may be temporary or permanent.

I remember a thread from a few years back where breeders were discussing fertility during the bad weather months and when molting. Some of those breeders needed to hatch eggs in the fall/winter so they had chickens the right age to show at a specific show but was having fertility issues. Some breeders said their flock fertility dropped during the molt and did not recover until the warm days of spring. Others said they had no problems with fertility during a rooster's molt.

Diet can affect fertility but you said they were fertile until the Coccidiosis. It would probably take a pretty severe change in diet for that to be the reason. Has the diet changed dramatically?

Breeders working with a thick-feathered breed can have another fertility problem. Orpington and Cochin come to mind. If the feathers are really thick they may block the vent when he tries to mate. It could be the hen's feathers or the rooster's. They have to trim the feathers around the vent so the target is exposed during mating.

I can't think of anything else that nuthatched did not mention. You said they are young so it's not old age.

I suspect it has something to do with the disease or treatment and would give them more time to recover. Hopefully you don't want fertile eggs right now.

Good luck!
