I'm *pretty sure* I want to add a roo to my small flock of 6 girls. I have 4 pullets (3 leghorn cross, 1ee) and 2 laying hens (buff orp cross and black sexlink).

My girls get along really well so I want something that tends to be friendly and docile. I'd prefer no feathering on the legs but that's not a must.

I would also like some cute babies in the spring...

Any suggestions???

I was kinda thinking EE too...the only problem is my EE pullet is a freaky spaz!(but I still love her

) But I've seen many people have very calm ee's so that's a very good option!

Japanese sounds interesting, are those difficult to find?

You should get either a barred rock or a buff orpington, they are usually very friendly and
beautiful to boot. And, if you are going to the jacksonville swap meet tomorrow I'll bring
you one for free

If your interested, the ones that I have are young, 14-18 weeks or so. They (the BR's) have been living on my back porch so they're used to being handled daily. They buff has been out in the back yard with the older birds and he keeps a pretty low profile and doesn't cause any trouble that I know of....

Scraps you're so sweet but of course I'll pay!!!

I'm thinking I should go with the orpington...I've wanted one since before I got chickens and don't have a "real" one.

I wrote on the swap thread hubby ran over my cage, now I'll definitely have to get a new one on the way!

Thanks so much, see you tomorrow!

LOL I have a Splash Modern Game Bantam Roo and he is the sweetest thing. He just stands still when I approach him and lets me pick him up and give him hugs and kisses. He will lay in my lap and treats the hens very well. When he finds a treat or tibbet he alerts the girls to come and get it and stands by while they gobble it down. His name is Mojojojo. Course all roosters are different. I mean originally MG were breed for fighting so they all definatly have different personalities.

Our silver laced whyandotte too is the meanest thing! Defentely not those. We also have a barred rock and and an EE so probably barred rock or EE would be a good choice

Yay!!! I will pack him up in the morning and bring him over! I'll bring one of the
BR's too so you can see them both and then decide. No need to pay, I'm happy to
find him a new home with some girls of his own

All you need is maybe a cardboard box to get him home in............
