well what happend was, they were going to just kill them and throw them out, so i paid a dollar a piece for them, and i hope they are hens!! i need eggs!!, if not they will live out their life here on our farm! they have naked butts though no feathers, and it took them a little over a week to learn how to walk.. poor things!!

those are meat chickens... they usually dont live long. their only purpose in life is to be slaughtered for meat. some people have succesfully raised them though.

Do you know how old they are? It kinda looks like one hen (in the last pic) and the rest might be roos. That's if they are young.

I think you did a great thing by rescueing them. They should still make good foragers once they get their "land legs".

They look like cornish x, meat birds. They were probably not any older then 8 weeks when you got them. They will need special food to live for long, and protection from extreme heat. They look like roosters to me, maybe a few hens. How big are they? If they are meat birds they should be very big for their age, which is why they seem older.

Some people have had them live to be a few years old, which is very old for this hybrid. I would post over in the meat bird section, where they will be able to give you advice if you want to keep them. I hope you have good luck with them.

They are prone to bad hearts, blood clots, and leg problems. They have a lot of fat compared to regular chickens, and that is what causes the heart issues.
