Please excuse my grammer.....So I got fertile eggs from a breeder which only breed RIRs and white leghorns. I purchased 12 RIR eggs. The eggs were brown so I had no reason to doubt that they indeed are RIR eggs. But now since they have hatched and now are two weeks old I am doubting their breed. I have 8 chicks in which 7 have yellow down with completely white feathers some have one black single dot. Then the 8th chick has white and tan feathers and has brown down on her head.I cannot find my USB cable to download the pics I took.... But I gave tooo accurate desription. These chicks came from brown eggs. What the dealio??? Anyone???? Do you think they bred the RIRs with the white leghorns would this also produce brown eggs????

Wow.. I can see your confusion. Maybe they are mixed? They should be little yellowish red chicks with NO WHITE for RIRs... if there's white either they aren't RIRs or they are mixed. I'm sooo sorry!

Don't be sorry ... they are pets in my backyard so no worries on breed.... They were yellow chicks but no they have all white feathers... if they bred rir with white leghorns is that a good mix...

they seem to be a RIRxLeghorn Mix, and their mom was a RIR hen, they will lay tinted brown eggs, Not as brown as the egg they came from but be asure they will be prolific layers.......

Well of course white leghorns pop out eggs like no tomorrow lol.... they are so adorable I will have to really search for my USB cable so I can post some pictures finally... thank you for all your help...

they roosters will fetherout nice too, all white with red shoulders...
