We'll probably use sand on the floor of our coop. I have heard a lot of good things about Sweet PDZ, but I have some questions.

1. Which is better for chickens, granular or powder?
2. How much needs to be used for a 4x4 coop? We'll have a poop tray under the roost for our 4 Buff Orpington hens.
3. Is it safe for brooders (I just got 10 meat chickens yesterday).

Thank you!

I have shavings on the coop floor and sand in their run. I use the granular sweet pdz. I've not seen a powdered form. The chickens get in there and start scratching around and in the coop the sweet pdz just gravitate to the bottom of the shavings. In the sand-filled run the sweed pdz gets mixed into the sand and kinda disappears. I have sprinkled it on the poop board, but it gets scraped off with the poop so I don't see it being very effective in that application. I can't intelligently answer your question #3.
