I've been reading these posts for a while now and need some help. I have 2 Silkies, a bearded white and a non-bearded blue. They both do the "cock dance" yet I've only heard crowing out of the white bearded roo (plus he tends to hold his tail up whereas I don't see that in the blue). Do hens ever do this "dance"? Plus they get along so well, they've been together since chicks and do everything together.
I was also wondering if anyone knew what breed the black hen with the silver feathers around her neck. Is she a black cuchin?
Lastly, the 2 frizzle cuchins, are both roos, or maybe 1 a roo and the other a hen?
THANK YOU!

The 2 cochins are about 8 weeks old and the Silkies, I think, are about 12-16 weeks old. Thank you to all for your comments! I only have 6 chicks and it's looking like I'll have 4 roosters!

Hmm then I would say the 4 you are concerned about are all roos. The black hen with silver feathers I am unsure about, but than at least is a pullet! I noticed you have another white silkie, do you think that one's a girl?

I hope the other white silkie is a girl! I need some hens! haha! Plus, if the older roos chase any of them, its the black frizzles. They leave the white silkie and the one I'm not sure what she is, alone.
Is it possible to keep 2 roosters if they continue to get along? I'm thinking about the 2 older silkies. I figure on all of them I'll wait until there is trouble to find new homes, I really don't want to give them up. I heard that as long as you have 3 hens per rooster you can keep multiple roos. Is this true?

Like you I have been in the position of having far too many young roos before. However, I had to rehome the lot of them. They behaved nicely enough but I rehomed them before they got mature (not allowed roosters here). You could try to keep them but I imagine you could only really have 1 roo per 2 hens, and even that may be pushing your luck. If you are concerned about the gender of the other silkie just post a couple of pics of her.
